Susie Rayos Marmon Elementary School is a replacement for the original “temporary” modular building School. The new replacement is designed to present a new vitality and sense of self-esteem and pride to the surrounding neighborhood. Energy conservation, water conservation, a high performing building envelope and excellent indoor environmental quality will make the project a LEED Silver Certified School. A combination of subtle background colors combined with strong accent colors reflect the color palette of desert blooming plants. Classrooms have natural day-light, direct solar glare protection, a teacher learning wall with sliding marker boards concealing storage shelving, both permanent and moveable storage units, computer projection screens and control of lighting control levels for special darker lighting requirements.
